How to Motivate a Team | Is there a Manager to Motivate a Team?

Is there a Manager to Motivate a Team:- The lack of motivation on the part of team members is primarily a management problem. Have you ever met a team that advanced, succeeded in its projects without any leader, no one to give the necessary impetus to this development; no one to encourage, congratulate its members? In other words: a leader? On the other hand, are employees parked like cattle in austere offices happy? Are they effective? Profitable? I do not think so! Below this post is all about how to motivate your team or responding the question is there a manager to motivate a team?

The Manager, The Leader

The role of the manager, in addition to setting goals for his employees, organizing the team’s work, setting up the necessary training and monitoring and measuring individual and collective performance, is also about communicating and, above all, motivating! Motivate by ensuring, first of all, that the working environment of its employees is conducive to the efficiency and well-being of everyone. I do not mean that any office should be designed according to the latest design … Simply that this workspace where we spend many hours is a pleasant minimum. That it is not these places where we backward know in advance that whatever our mood of the day, it will be sealed anyway soon the door of the office crossed.

Therefore, one of the primary concerns of the manager will be to make sure that his employees feel good about their workplace. This may seem ridiculous, but the atmosphere and atmosphere play an important role in professional efficiency. Decor, ambiance, material, etc. will be important parameters to take into account. Can we work properly if we do not have the right tools? Of course, this is not impossible! Nevertheless, it will take longer. And time … its money!

Few things are enough to make a nice office for its occupants: neutral colors, a few pops of color for the pep and good mood, ergonomic desks, some storage space, sufficient brightness, a little greenery … Your offices do not have of windows, some current luminaries diffuse a light close to the natural light of the day. And why not decorate one of the walls with a picture of a green landscape as wallpaper? Serene Atmosphere guaranteed!

One word of: MOTIVATION! How to Motivate a Team

It’s very nice all this (normal: the scenery is planted …), but how to concretely communicate a positive impetus to the entire team? Things do not happen alone! The motivation does not fall on you like that overnight! Some parameters contribute effectively to this implementation … The list is not exhaustive; do not hesitate to share your recipes in the comments!

Rule number 1: manager, “do what I say AND what I do” will be your daily motto … The team leader must be an example in the eyes of his troops. If he is not motivated, who will be? To be able to hope to instill some emulation to his colleagues, the manager must himself be animated by an enthusiasm foolproof! However, if that were enough, it would be too simple … It is still necessary to know how to transmit this energy and inspire the same momentum in each member of his team, but also in the team as an entity in its own right. Hence the few other rules that follows! On the other hand, if the leader does not show the example, who will listen? Who will follow him? Would you follow someone who would not pay you any attention?

Rule number 2: manager, with your collaborators you will communicate. This is of course active listening and transparency. A good executive needs to know what his associates have to say – resentments, innovative ideas, and so on. He must know how to share his decisions, for sure, but also any problems or difficulties. Certainly, everything is not to say. Nevertheless, the minimum – expressed with tact and intelligence – will silence the rumors and the wildest fantasies. When employees feel they are hiding something important, it is rare that it ends well…

Rule number 3: manager, of your troops you will be respected and vice versa. Logically stemming from the previous rule, this precept will be the basis of all good understanding and guarantee of a certain success. To be respected, one must be sincere with his men, available when they feel the need and especially to be exemplary. Would you listen to someone you do not respect? Would you like to invest for her?

Rule number 4: manager, trust in you and in your men you will have … Without confidence, no team, however powerful it may be, can succeed. In order to be able to trust his collaborators, the leader must above all be fully aware of his own value. Then, he must be able to leave some freedom of action to his teammates. This will strengthen mutual trust, respect and team.

Rule number 5: manager, the delegation you will master. Once trust is established on both sides, delegating becomes possible. This step aims to facilitate the autonomy and responsibility of his colleagues, two essential elements for a good motivation of the troops. An employee, who is assigned tasks not only interesting, but important and gratifying, will want to give the best of him…

Rule number 6: manager, the routine will distance you… A diet as old as the world can apply to many areas! Everyone knows that there is no worse than routine tasks to kill the slightest emulation. The executive will take care to vary the projects (for example, alternate ambitious projects, asking for a substantial investment and more recreational programs where everyone can more broadly bring his ideas and personal talents). Another example: an original lunch, organized by the manager, can be effective when the motivation tends to slow down. It will be an opportunity to decompress, to share otherwise than on professional themes, to rejoin the team … The emulation of the group and the cohesion of this one are important pillars to reach the objectives. The levers are also numerous to energize and federate a team: team building, coaching, etc.

Rule number 7: manager, pride and gratitude you will not forget … Valorize, congratulate his collaborators, know recognize their talents, the efforts provided … This is an entire pan that barely used in business. Afraid that happiness will take the melon; fall asleep on its laurels, worse: become mediocre … Difficulties to verbalize … Excuses are many! Yet this is another essential ingredient to the motivation of everyone and the group! The means to express his satisfaction to his teams are legion: from the simple pat on the back to the opening of prospects of evolution, by way of end-of-project bonuses or a reward dinner, etc. Each will know how to dose and adapt…

You will understand, motivate his troops for a cadre, is a job in its own right. A simple trick when you wonder what impulse to give? Put yourself in the shoes of your employees and asking you, for example: “If I were in their shoes, what would be my expectations of my boss?
