Animation Styles in Team Meeting:- Nothing is more like a meeting than another meeting. Finally, in appearance, because by looking more closely, the objectives can be totally different: presentation of a new product, search for new ideas, solve a problem. The direct consequence: a different style of animation depending on the subject. Indeed, depending on the type of meeting, the facilitator leaves more or less room for participants to express themselves.
Animation Style you Need to Adopt in Team Meeting
This post presents the 3 Animation styles
- Directive
This mode is at the border of the information meeting. Little space is left to the participants. The moderator is factual , he has information to deliver, and he runs in an almost unidirectional style. The content and the proceedings of the meeting are strongly structured. Participants usually intervene after the message is over .
Communication is established directly between them and the facilitator. There is no exchange between the participants. The typical application is the presentation of a new product. Nothing is to be debated. The facilitator shows some authority.
- Participative
The meeting takes the form of a discussion. The subject is posed, the participants confront their ideas and opinions . The dynamic is balanced between the participants and the facilitator. The speaking time is shared at 50% for each of the parties. The goal is to gather as much information as possible.
The role of the facilitator is to find points of agreement . It also manages the tensions that appear to stay in a positive construction. His listening must be attentive to understand the sequence of exchanges and guide them accordingly. He also ensures that all parties speak on the subject. In short, everyone is involved and participates in the discussions. The typical application is to collect ideas for improvement.
- Non-directive
The information is essentially bottom-up, the facilitator plays a facilitating role. It must bring the group to speak freely on an issue. The animation is light, the group imposes the direction of the debates. Nevertheless, the facilitator must be vigilant in order to avoid overflowing too much. Such a situation would lead to sterile production. It must contain the discussions in a certain context, even if it is rather broad.
It shares certain roles of the participative style: to allow all the collaborators to deliver their opinion, to control the level of tension, etc. In addition, the organizer is the reporter of the group. He writes the summary of the work done.
This is typically a type of meeting organized in the case of problem solving. The participants are in a position to freely explore as many possible causes as possible, to analyze them and to select the relevant solutions.
The secret of a successful animation is preparation . Knowing the issue, the facilitator can organize the meeting accordingly and favor an animation style. It is also necessary to be vigilant so that one type of meeting does not drift towards another. As an illustration, the presentation of a new product should not be transformed into a discussion on the points to be improved. The goal is not there. The facilitator’s responsibility is to keep the meeting focused on the initial objectives .
