Must Use 5 Conflict Resolution Strategies

By Richard Daniels Reading Time: 4 mins

Conflict resolution strategies have earned a great importance as conflicts are part of business organization either its a small business or big Enterprise. It’s always better for the businesses to keep up the atmosphere of understanding and trust in- between its workers, all of the time, otherwise, it won’t take much long for smaller conflicts to grow up big enough to be an enormous danger for business. The better the implementation of conflict resolution strategies, the easier it gets for the workers to achieve their goal towards greater productivity. Therefore, the importance of resolving a conflict and that, too, in time, can never be denied and that’s what made us put up an article about the best strategies and important points that can help one in solving conflicts around him.

Workplace Conflict Resolution Strategies

Getting the idea of what’s going on with your coworkers is generally the first and foremost step towards the resolution of any conflict. And if taken in a right manner, this step itself is able to cover up most of the job for you since, getting the full knowledge of the problem is actually the same as you have solved more than half of the problem. Once you have identified the root cause of the conflict, then you are ready to get on, head to head and take down the problem with the conflict resolution strategies.

  1. Discussion eases it all

A conflict can either be a result of lacking of understanding between two members or it can be so because of the conflicting individuals never tried to solve it by them. No matter what’s the case, the discussion will always be the primary and straightforward method of putting such problems to rest. And it’s your responsibility to a third party for creating a suitable environment in which both the opponents can sit in calmly and speak off to each other confidently.

During the discussion, the subject under consideration can get red hot and there is also a possibility that the opponents start off a fight against each either verbally or physically or even both.  There, too, you should be prioritizing the problem and solution above anything else even the conflicting members.

  1. Cool it up by Establishing Written Communications

Sometimes, it is a lot better idea not to let the disputers have a direct contact because it can just make the situations worse. Well! Backing off from the discussion doesn’t mean that you are weak and you are just leaving the conflict as it is. Instead, this time, you take a smarter approach by convincing the conflicting parties to establish a written communication with the help of which you can solve the conflict without letting it grow any bigger. Just like the former one, this strategy also involves you as a third party, which is responsible for keeping that communicational means up and running. This letter will be what taking the voice of heart of one worker to another while paving up the way towards peace.

  1. Lighten the Burden with Voting

Voting is one of the best practices involving the cases, where conflicting individuals can either win or lose. So, that’s where you other colleagues become helpful to you who can help you in making a choice of choosing the winning party of the conflict. For the purpose, start a voting session and ask others for what do they think about that particular conflict. So, the winner is detected depending upon the responses of the people.

This strategy finds its place among the best conflict resolution strategies that target the situations where the cause of conflict is the choice of a particular marketing strategy or something similar to this in terms of the idea.

  1. Mediation might do it

There might also rise some cases where intervention from outside parties becomes necessary with the passage of time. The greater the time passes, the strong the influence of the conflict becomes and the more important it gets to put that conflict to rest. Such conflict resolution strategies make use of a person as a mediator who is trained especially for this purpose. The person sits among the disputers and listens, carefully, to what these opponents have in mind about the others and what can be the possible reason behind that conflict.  And that’s what lets you achieve that first condition necessary for resolving the conflict.

  1. Can Compromising be the Answer to the Conflict

Is it that you have tried a lot for bringing the feuding parties close to each other or can it be that you are out of all ideas that can make both sides happy, then definitely your final choice is putting up a compromising condition on both of the conflicting parties? For the purpose, think of an idea for which both parties can cling strongly at a time as compared to the conflict reason. Convince them to make them lose one of the things they love for achieving success in the conflict.

Simply said, such conflict resolution strategies try to put forward a solution that makes both of the disputers want to lose something for gaining something. Well! Definitely, the loss is not much great as compared to the objective they both are pursuing.
