Tips for Small Business Text Message Advertising

Text message advertising has gained much importance in the recent years because of the immense growth of the mobile phone market and the number of mobile phone users, which are growing tremendously at the rate of more than 50 thousand subscribers per day. This means a promising number of potential customers to which you can promote your product. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Well! That’s something which attracts most of the other advertisers, too.

In other words, it promises a tough competition from other brands and that’s why it is important to make sure that your advertising strategies are able to stand out of the crowd and make them thinkable that your product is the only one, which they should aim for.

  1. Identify yourself to the Customers

Studies reveal that most of the mobile phone users don’t pay any attention to an unknown number either if it is in their missed call list or received messages list. Even if they open up the message, more often, they find a vague idea that doesn’t represent its sender in any way. Since it’s not their responsibility to find out who’s there on the opposite side looking for them and that’s what makes its way easier to be among the deleted ones. So, to make sure that your text message advertising is bringing in the same results as that of expectations, ensure it is not treated as an anonymous or a spam message.

  1. Treat them as Someone Special

Sending out the messages to customers about offers is good, but just don’t overdo it, since it will just make them offensive towards your text message advertising. Don’t throw all the offers and the news which the clients can get from your website or by going to your store, otherwise, it won’t be long when they all will start opting out of your lists for receiving your advertisements.

The only way to get over this problem is to make them feel that they are special to you and your brand and this can be done by sending out the word about exclusive offers to them before you release them on the other advertising means.

  1. Keep it Focused

In this busy world, no one has got enough time to read each and every word of the text message which they receive, so the customers just end up skimming through the words and getting the idea of what it is all about. In simpler words, you have got just a few seconds to convey your idea to your clients before they leave it and throw it in the dustbin.

Focusing up the theme and keeping it brief and simple at a time is what going to be the key to the success of your text message advertising. Make the way for your best line at the top which forces the customer to stop doing everything else and read your advertisement till the very end. That’s how to do it.

  1. Put up time Limitation to your Offer

Everyone loves offers whether it is about a huge discount for making purchases of a particular product or taking the total cost of purchasing the products over a specified limit, or even if it is about giving away freebies. Well! Whatever it is, just make sure to put a time limitation on it and that too, not necessarily in the real world, but it’s their brains with which you are going to tickle. Pair up a real-time offer with a time close enough such that it changes the minds of customers for taking action immediately rather than later.

Feeling confused! The following example will make it crystal clear about how you are going to achieve what you want. Let’s say, a brand is known by the name of “Crazy Shirts” puts up an unbelievable discount of 60% on the purchase of tee shirts if purchased in the number of 5 or above. So, how will the company put in a practical situation?

Well! There are two ways from here (not strictly, since you are just limited by your mind). One says, “Enjoy 60% off on the purchase of just 5 shirts at www.crazyshirts.com for the next 36 hours only. Use coupon ZEROCOST at checkout.” On the other hand, it can also go as, “Crazy Shirts 60% off on the purchase of 5 tee shirts through 2/12/16. Show this message to the manager to grab the deal”.

  1. Avoid Abbreviations and Slangs

    Work in a way to remove the hype off that makes your text messages heavier on the looks and the brains of the customers. Avoid slangs, abbreviations and the wordings often used for the purpose of advertisements like “unbelievable offer” or “Amazing” this or that or something else. This will just worsen the look of the text message advertising and customers will start thinking the messages as spam and will delete it without giving it a second thought.

But you can’t let it go like this, can you? Well! Definitely not. So, learning the usage of proper wording is important, since it’s the wording which links the thoughts of brands to customers and just a little mismatch will be enough to break that linkage point.

  1. Test, Learn and Repeat with a Change

 Well! That’s how we the humans have managed to get this far. And in text message marketing, too, it is going to be a savior of the time that you put in strategizing the advertising plans, especially if you are just a starter one at this kind of thing. What you have got to do is just implement a strategy for the time being, experiment with it and find those critical points which attract customers to your brand, or is there anything special that you can use to give your advertisements a boost. This process is surely a long one but worth the wait, when is compared with the results of those strategies that you force on your subscribers.
