Why Accompaniment Consultancy is Important for Business | Required Skills

By Richard Daniels Reading Time: 4 mins
Updated July 7, 2017

At the request of a company or an individual, the consultant accompanies all or part of the professional accompaniment of one or more employees.  Accompaniment consultancy also subtitled as Outplacement consultant, Redeployment consultant, outplacement, Responsible for a reclassification unit, and Professional development consultant, etc

Why Business felt the need of Accompaniment Consultancy

Below are few things that enhance the need of Accompaniment consultancy for business especially big companies and firms always having Accompaniment consultants?

Proposal to the Client

  • Listen to the client’s need (business or individual).
  • Establish a proposal for accompaniment by identifying the services adapted to the situation: assessment of competencies, individual outplacement, collective outplacement …
  • Advise and reassure the client in relation to the entire process.
  • If necessary, direct it to specialists, on certain aspects, in particular legal aspects.

Construction of the accompanying plan

  • Establish a proposal that meets the client’s needs.
  • Define the objectives, the planning and the modalities of the intervention.
  • Present the benefit to the client and / or employees benefiting from the service.

Implementation of the Accompanying Project

  • Realize all or part of the accompanying service, integrate a skills assessment or enroll in an individual and collective outplacement.
  • Intervene with the employee to identify his skills and help him in the definition of his professional project.

Project follow-up and Advice

  • To accompany the employee in the realization of his professional project.
  • Adjust his contribution and return to his client to keep him informed of the progress of the project.
  • To evaluate the results of its action at the end of the performance.

Possible activities

  • The outplacement consultant may have management functions over a few employees, particularly in the context of major outplacement operations.
  • It can be force of proposal with the employee for the realization of formations.
  • It sometimes provides other HR counseling services than coaching (for example, recruitment consultancy or training).

Variability of Activities

Accompanying counseling actually includes several services.

  • Competence assessment:- The consultants who carry out competency reports primarily carry out missions of analysis of career path, identification of skills, personal qualities and areas for improvement. They also advise the employee as part of his professional project. The skills assessment can be the first phase of an outplacement process. But this is a statutory benefit that can benefit any employee regardless of his or her position in the company.
  • Individual outplacement:- As part of this service, the consultant applies to define a personalized program, alternating face-to-face interviews, collective workshops and personal work periods. Individual outplacement mainly benefits the population framework with notable exceptions.
  • Collective outplacement:- it is part of the reclassification units set up by the service provider, usually involving several consultants of the firm: some senior consultants coordinate the reclassification unit, others organize the workshops; Others, more junior, ensure the job of census and management of vacancies by communicating the profiles of “outpaces” to the recruiters (by telephone or by another channel).
  • Coaching:- This is a service developed fairly recently by consultants called “coach”. It can take different forms: face-to-face interviews, collective interviews, day-to-day coaching in the field … the aim being to improve the professional performance of a managerial cadre Business executives or business managers).

In addition, professional coaching is carried out by consultants who:

  • Or cumulative missions of commercial development and production (realization and / or coordination) of missions;
  • Or are exclusively directors (producers and / or producers) of services and do not have missions or responsibilities for commercial development.

Finally, specificities exist depending on whether the client is an individual (case of skills assessment) or a company (case of skills assessment, individual and collective outplacement). In the second case, the operations are of a larger scale and involve larger teams with, where appropriate, a division of roles between the one responsible for the commercial function, the coordinator of the projects and the person performing the services.

Required Skills Accompaniment Consultants

  • Technical skills. The support consultant has a good knowledge of the business world, the functioning of the job market, the professions, the qualifications required and the initial and continuous training. He is also fluent in the practice of personality tests and personal communication tools.
  • Personal qualities. The support consultant has an excellent listening to gather as much information as possible, a good analytical capacity to identify the professional and personal achievements and potential of his interlocutors. His strength of conviction, his sense of diplomacy allow him to convince the employee of his assets (individual and collective outplacement), persuade prospective employers of the quality of the profile (collective outplacement) or lead the candidate to reorient himself and Become aware of its weak points. Intuitive, he “estimates” the employee’s mind, knows how to put him in confidence, reassure him and communicate dynamism and envy. Finally, it resists pressure, especially effective.
